Storms
I like storms. I like them a lot... when I'm not on call. I stuck, right now, in an eddy of indecision. If I go to bed I'll get called out immediately but if I stay up and wait for the call it won't come. Stupid ironic job...

As a kid I LOVED storms.
As a homeowner with a couple grand invested in computer equipment, a couple more grand in home theater plus the house itself that can burn to the ground due to a lightning strike, or get ripped to shreds by a tornado I've become a touch more leery of storms.
But deep down inside that kid in me still loves them.
love them. have not had very much fun weather up in here. one nice storm came thru town while i was at work. and i work 40 miles away so i missed it. except for when driving home that night. that was wicked fun. but short lived. seriously it's been a giant suck fest for storms this year.
i miss watching the storms come in! freekin nature
I'm sick again so I was up most of the night coughing anyway. Guess what happened at 4:45 (about 30 minutes after I finally fell aspleep). Go on. Guess.
Adam... enjoy the storm and make sure you pay your homeowner's insurance. I have about 4 different copies of anything I think is really important around the house (like Miles' pictures and such). I figure at least one of them will survive a tornado. I even have a 250gb external HDD in my drawer at work on which I keep encrypted copies of important files. I don't do that stuff so that I can enjoy storms, I do it to be prudent. However, since I do all those things I can say that I can't recall being worried about my home and possessions during a storm. There was a close tornado a few months ago and I guess I was worried about the cats until I found them and chucked them in the downstairs bathroom with the rest of us.
adam... are you familiar with pownce? www.pownce.com/whackly ... there's a good reason why I ask.. not just pimping whackly product.
